Laurel Grove recieves grant from the Department of Homeland Security
Laurel Grove Volunteer Fire & Rescue was recently awarded a grant for $78,533 from the Department of Homeland Security through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant. This grant is one of the most competitive in the nation and we feel privileged to have received it. Funding from this grant will go towards the purchase of personal protective equipment for members while fighting both wildland and structural fires, as well as communications equipment. This grant also will fund a firefighter and hazardous materials class to be held at Laurel Grove fire station for its members. After purchasing all the equipment and receiving all the training, 100% of Laurel Grove Volunteer Fire & Rescue will be equipped and trained to face wildland and structural fires, as well as those incidents involving hazardous materials.
Laurel Grove recieves grant from the Virginia Department of Health
Laurel Grove Volunteer Fire & Rescue was recently awarded a grant for $5,439.20 from the Virginia Department of Health through the Office of Emergency Medical Services. This grant will be used to purchase multiple items for the department. They include: a laptop computer, projector, and screen to be used for off-site training, as well as a desktop computer and printer for the fire station. Lastly, the grant funded a automated external defibrillator and portable suction device to be stock on our new first responder vehicle.
