Fire Lieutenant

Matthew T. Wade

Matthew Wade was born and raised in Prospect Hill, North Carolina. He is employed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a State Trooper in Pittsylvania County. Currently, Matt holds the title of Fire Lieutenant in the Training Division here at Laurel Grove.

Matt was a home schooled student and completed his grade school education in 1998. Matt married in 1999 and soon started college at Southern Virginia Community College in Keysville, Virginia.

Matt is currently certified as a Fire Instructor Level 1 through the Virginia Department of Fire Programs and an EMT-Basic through the Virginia Office of EMS. Matt is also certified as a Vehicle Rescue Technician, Driver/Operator, and also has a certificate in Hazardous Materials Operations.

Once leaving Prospect Hill, Matt moved to Clover, Virginia where he was active in the Clover Volunteer Fire Department. After getting hired by the Virginia State Police and successfully completing the academy, Matt was assigned to be a trooper in Pittsylvania County. Matt, his wife Faith, and their three daughters moved to Laurel Grove to meet the residency requirements that came with the job. In his spare time, Matt enjoys golfing, spending time with his family, and working on the farm.
