James H. Satterfield

James Satterfield, better known as Jamie, was born and raised in Laurel Grove, Virginia. He is employed by the City of Danville Fire Department as a Firefighter/EMT-I on A-shift at Station #5 on Third Ave. He is also a member of the Technical Rescue Team for the city. Jamie works part-time for Virginia International Raceway Fire-Rescue as a Firefighter/EMT-I. Currently, he holds the title of Assistant Chief at Laurel Grove. Prior to being elected Assistant Chief, he held the positions of Fire and EMS Captains, as well as Fire and EMS Lieutenants.

In 2000, Jamie graduated from Dan River High School in Ringgold, Virginia. After high school, Jamie attended Piedmont Community College in Yanceyville, North Carolina where he gained the certification of a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician – Intermediate. Currently, Jamie is enrolled at Danville Community College seeking his Associates Degree in Fire Science.

Jamie is currently certified as a Fire Instructor and Fire Officer through the Virginia Department of Fire Programs, and an EMT Instructor and ALS Coordinator through the Virginia Office of EMS. He also holds the certification of CPR Instructor through the American Heart Association. Jamie actively teaches Fire and EMS courses in Danville/Pittsylvania County area.

Jamie has lived in Laurel Grove most of his life, other than a brief stay in Maryland just north of Baltimore. He enjoys being active in his community and spending time with family and friends. In his spare time, Jamie enjoys mountain biking, exercising, golfing, fishing, hunting, and attending church.
