SPECIAL PROJECTS THAT YOU CAN HELP SUPPORT
Currently, we have an active Building Fund for improvements to our current station. In 2007, the Officers and Board of Directors saw the need for a healthier environment where members could gather while at the station, additional office space, sleeping quarters for on-duty personnel, a covered area for fund raising events, and larger storage space and bay doors for emergency vehicles. It was decided that we should make these needed changes in two separate phases; Phase 1 accomplishing the goal of creating a healthier environment for our members while at the station, additional office space, sleeping quarters, and a covered area for fund raising events, and Phase 2 accomplishing the goal of creating larger storage space and bay doors for emergency vehicles.
In February 2008, Laurel Grove signed a contract with Hilty Construction located in South Boston, Virginia for Phase 1 of construction which was completed in May 2008. With this new addition, we accomplished our first four goals of our Building Fund, and were very pleased with the results. We are still accepting donations to go towards purchasing the necessary furnishings for the new area.
We are currently accepting donations specifically for our Building Fund to help support Phase 2: Construction of a new addition onto the current station in order to accomplish our second goal of “creating larger storage space and bay doors for emergency vehicles.” With the help of a generous donation from the Verna Davis family, we are well on our way to funding the project. But we will need YOUR help to make our vision a reality. Without the support of our community, our needs can not be met. So drop your donation in the mail today!
